Daljit Dhami is a bay area native and grew up in Union City, twenty minutes south of Oakland. Prior to joining Sundeen Salinas & Pyle, she served as a Migrant Staff Attorney at the Fresno office of California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA) where her practice focused on civil rights issues, environmental justice, and employment law. At CRLA she represented agricultural workers in various types of litigation, including wrongful termination/discrimination cases, representative actions involving wage and hour issues and sexual harassment claims.
Ms. Dhami received her J.D. from Golden Gate University's Honors Lawyering Program in 2007. During law school, she interned with United States Magistrate Judge Wayne D. Brazil of the Northern District of California, the Asian Law Caucus and the San Francisco Public Defender's Office. Ms. Dhami served as an Associate Editor for Law Review and as the board member of the National Lawyers Guild Chapter and the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. She received awards and/or the highest grades in numerous courses, including Corporations, Advanced Legal Writing and Civil Procedure. In 2006, she was awarded the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) Public Interest Fellowship. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the SABA Foundation and the Central Valley chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. Currently, she is serving a two year term as Co–President of the SABA Foundation.
Ms. Dhami is fluent in Punjabi and conversational in Spanish, Hindi and Urdu. She is the eldest of four children and the first to achieve a higher education in her family of immigrants from Punjab, India.
