Mana Barari is Iranian-American and originally from the Los Angeles area. Ms. Barari received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, and completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley with high honors. Ms. Barari joined Sundeen Salinas & Pyle in August 2011.

Ms. Barari has been committed to social justice and human rights throughout her academic and legal career. During law school, Ms. Barari spent her summers interning with human rights NGOs in Brazil and Costa Rica. Ms. Barari also served as a research assistant to the UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions, and participated in the International Human Rights Clinic’s project addressing the discriminatory effects of counterterrorist policies. She also served as an editor for NYU’s Journal of International Law and Politics and was a member of the 2007 academic delegation to Cuba.

After graduating from NYU in 2007, Ms. Barari worked at the Urban Justice Center in New York City, where she helped produce a report on racial discrimination in the city, which was submitted to the UN Committee on the Eradication of Racial Discrimination. Ms. Barari also spent two years doing commercial litigation at Becker Glynn Melamed & Muffly in New York City, specializing on disputes of international character. During this time, she spearheaded both a pro-bono project assisting LGBT refugees in Turkey, and the drafting of an amicus brief on behalf of Muslim organizations, arguing against bias in immigration proceedings.

Ms. Barari is conversationally fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and Farsi.
