Hunter Pyle graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law (U.C. Berkeley) in 1997. In 2007 he was named "one to watch" in the Daily Journal's "Top Northern California Law Firms."
While at Boalt Hall, Mr. Pyle was the Director of the East Bay Workers' Rights Clinic. He also served on the Board of Directors of the East Bay Community Law Center. He received awards and/or the highest grades in numerous classes, including Labor Law, Trial Practice, and Negotiations. He also represented Boalt Hall in a national mock trial competition. From 1997 through 2003, Mr. Pyle practiced law at Siegel & Yee in Oakland. In 2004, he became one of the founding members of Sundeen, Salinas & Pyle.
Mr. Pyle handles all types of employment litigation, including class actions, jury trials, wage claims, and unemployment insurance hearings. He has represented clients in wrongful termination/discrimination cases against such entities as Chevron, Georgia-Pacific, and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). He has also handled police misconduct/civil rights cases against the California Highway Patrol, the Oakland Police Department, and the University of California Police Department, among others.
Mr. Pyle has served as the President of the Bay Area Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild; the Vice-Chair of the Alameda County Bar Association Trial Practice section; and the CLE Chair of the Alameda County Bar Association Labor and Employment section. He has also served as Vice President of the National Police Accountability Project. In 2002, in his spare time, Mr. Pyle was the Outreach Director for Just Cause Oakland, which successfully passed Measure EE (providing that tenants may not be evicted without just cause). He is a member of the National Lawyers Guild, the California Employment Lawyers Association, and the American Inn of Court.
