Employment Discrimination

It is illegal for an employer to discriminate in the workplace. Employment discrimination can take many forms, including failure to hire, failure to promote, and wrongful termination.

Both California and Federal laws protect employees from discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, disability, and age. Similar laws protect employees from retaliating against employees who complain about discrimination, or who assist other employees who complain about discrimination.

Additionally, California and Federal laws require employers to offer reasonable accommodations to disabled employees. An employer that terminates an employee who is disabled without engaging in a good faith discussion about whether it can accommodate the employee may also violate the law.
